Ownership

The Kavli Trust is the owner of the Kavli group. It was established in 1962 by Knut Kavli, son of Olav Kavli, the group's founder.

The Kavli Trust has a two-fold mission. Its main task is charitable work. But for this to be possible and further developed, two other important duties must also be fulfilled – exercising ownership of the Kavli group and managing the financial assets involved.

To discharge these responsibilities, the Trust must ensure that its board is composed of people with relevant expertise and experience as well as the right “Kavli Trust” attitude.

The Kavli Trust is subject to Norway’s Foundations Act.

The Trust exercises ownership of the Kavli Group as the general assembly of Kavli Group.

These responsibilities include approval of the annual accounts and annual report, election of the group’s directors and chair, and determining the remuneration of the board.

The Kavli Trust is represented by two directors on the board of parent company Kavli Holding.
